Three for Thursday

I wasn't able to get into my classroom and take some pictures because I won an entryway makeover from Real Simple magazine and they were at my house all week making over my entryway. I met some awesome people and WHAT a difference! I don't think I am allowed to post pictures but get the November issue. SOOOO exciting!

So I will go on to Three for Thursday....

Teacher Talk Tuesday....
Here's to the newbies.
1. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
2. Focus on a couple of things rather than everything all at once. We can't all be experts in everything right off the bat.
3. Research, read blogs, talk to people. There are so many great ideas and wonderful, amazing teachers out there with fantastic ideas.
4. Every seasoned teacher has been through their first year. Talk to them.
5. Plan, plan, plan.
6. Model everything for your students.
7. Take your time. Everything doesn't have to be done right now.
8. Take time for yourself. This is SO important!

Have fun!

Meet the Teacher Monday

Tell us a little something about you...
My name is Beth Ann. I live in central New York. I just started getting into the blogging scene and am completely addicted! I have three children: Katie (16), David (14), and Janie (12). We live on a "wanna-be" farmette with our dogs, cats, and chickens.

How long have you been teaching?
I started out teaching in the same elementary school I attended. (I took over for my 6th grade teacher.) I taught 5th and 6th grade there and then took off time to raise my children. After they were almost all in school I applied for a new teaching job. I started in 2nd grade, moved to 1st, moved to 4th, and finally am back down in 1st again. (This is where I belong.)

You might not know...
I am addicted to running. I ran an Ultra Relay Race with 11 other women. (187 miles altogether) We came in 2nd place in the women's division!!!

What are you looking most forward to this school year?
I have an inclusion classroom this year. I am looking forward to working with some amazing TA's and students.

What do I need to improve?
I want to implement DAILY 5 correctly. I want the students to have fun while learning the millions of things we have to teach them.

What teaching supplies can you *not* live without?
My SmartBoard.
Mr. Sketch Markers (They last the longest and the smell.... :)
My wonderful friend and colleague, Linda.

I am so excited about this week!

MIA

I am beginning to work in my classroom. I will post some pictures after I am in there today. I am working on a calendar to use for my Smart Board and with the student's binders. I will share that when I am finished.
To all who are working already...I hope you are having fun. I can't wait to meet my new students.
