All Ready!!! Well, almost :) and some randomness :)

I will be going into my classroom tomorrow for just a couple tiny, little things to get ready for next week!!! YIPPPPEEEEE!!!

I stayed until around 8 o'clock tonight. :)
I wanted to be able to not go into school this weekend.

We have taken over the kindergarten schedule for this year and next. The specials are split. For every year, up until this one, we had specials at 12:45-1:45. Sometimes we had only one special or we had a special and then computer lab, so we had only a half hour of prep time. Now I have two days out of the six day cycle where I have a special at 9:45 and then another at 1:45. I know I shouldn't complain when there are teachers out there whose kiddos don't have the opportunity to have specials at all (taught by other teachers), but when you have had a great thing for many years...it is HARD to change.
I haven't even written my lesson plans yet.

I will be doing these tomorrow morning.

An update on APPR.
We have finished writing the first part of our SLOs.
Our whole team worked on them together. After we give the pre-test we work with our principal and set our goals. Right now I am so glad I don't teach middle school or high school. I don't know how they are going to do it.

How are you doing?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I just found out when I was doing the kiddos bus passes that I live on the same street as two of my firsties. This will certainly be an interesting year!

Have a wonderful day!

Here's to summer...

Second Day Back APPR

Come on all you New Yorkers...
APPR....HMMMMM????

How is it going at your school?
It seems to me that the first year out is going to be the craziest.
What is your school doing?

With all these acronyms, how are we suppose to remember the kiddo's names?

SLO's, LAT's, APPR, etc.

I have my first full day of training on APPR today. I missed the August training that was available in our school. Since I was on vacation, I have to miss one full day out of my classroom.
I am kicking and screaming...about to go into a full-blown tantrum.
I know I have to do the training, I just think it's bad timing.

Anyway...I am interested in what is going to be said today.
I will let you know tomorrow.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

As for yesterday, we had presentations on Right to Know, Sexual Harassment, and Dignity for All Students. All interesting presentations. Quick...right to the point. But sitting for 4 and 1/2 hours is not easy for anyone.

First Day Back... Sans Kiddos

Today is our first day back to work without students.
We are going to be learning, listening to, and talking about:
Sexual Harassment
Right to Know
Dignity for All
Our Union Meeting
and then we get to work in our classrooms for an hour.
That'll give me enough time, right???
Ha! I have hours and hours to get my classroom ready.

My daughters painted this book shelf. I can't wait to put my things on it!

Sorry this is so dark.
It's my OWL welcome banner. Too cute! I put two green bows on the ends to tie it all together.

Fabric and duct tape. I have to show you the front too. I forgot to take a picture.
So much better!

Frozen fruit, cake mix, diet sprite.
Abracadabra!!! Berry strudel.

My dad came to help us with the chicken coop.
Their nesting boxes are so cool and EASY to clean!

We had to round them all up the first night. I am carrying four back to their house.

Therapeutic Thursday

Here I am again linking up with Blog Hoppin'.
Therapeutic Thursday

I LOVE to take and edit photos.
There is nothing more relaxing than going out and getting that "one" photo that you were looking for.

Like this one of my nephew's brand new feet!

Another way is to RUN!!!
I love running. I especially love the feeling I get after I run!

I also read a lot.
Going up to my bed and reading is one of the best things to do to relieve stress.

What do you do?

Linky Party - Tuesday Technology Tip

I know I am breaking the posting one-a-day rule.
I had to catch-up with Blog Hoppin'.

I am linking up all this week with Blog Hoppin'.

Technology Tip Tuesday

This is done with Pages on my MacBook Pro.

I found this little gem of a tool when I was making my banner for my classroom.
Be careful if you want to send these or upload these files. They become quite large.

First you start off with a text box.
Put in whatever you are creating.

Next, bring up your "inspector" and go to the graphic button.
Click on Tinted Image Fill.

Choose the image you would like to "fill in" your text box.

Then if you want something around it, go to Stroke.
I really like to picture frames.

This is what mine ended up to be. So cute. I love the owl peeking in.

I hope this helps some of you to make some really interesting products.
I LOVE using this technique.

Have a wonderful day!
